Designer/maker aged 24, originating from Nottinghamshire.

My current practice focuses on the creation of handcrafted objects that blur the line between functional design and refined ornamental form.

Design is the practical application for a long-standing obsession with form and material, and the responses they provoke. Throughout my BA, my design work became increasingly focussed upon the interaction between human and object, and the power a designer wields in orchestrating this relationship. How concepts such as joy, intrigue, autonomy, creativity, ecological awareness and empowered sustainability can all be sparked through considerate design.

My current practice has evolved into something much more holistic however. Combined with an analytical design ethic, my work is now a vehicle for both understanding and expressing both my internal state, and my perception of the external world. It is a mode of translation heavily focussed around creating a sense of balance through making and drawing, with the utilisation of natural materials.

Throughout my work, the attainment of harmony on every level is paramount: The materials themselves are sourced through sustainable means - working with our ecology not against: The way in which I physically interact with and manipulate my materials is a balanced and intuitive conversation between my desired outcome and the potential of their subtly nuanced characteristics. The result of this dialogue is one that balances varying aesthetic elements with one another, and their surrounding space.
